Matching the material to the household
There is no single best benchtop material — only the right trade-off for how your kitchen gets used.
- Marble: the most beautiful movement, the most maintenance. Etches with acid; a honed finish forgives more.
- Dolomite: marble-like veining, meaningfully harder. The usual answer for people who want marble in a busy kitchen.
- Granite: hardest and most heat-tolerant. Granular pattern rather than veining.
- Silica free engineered: non-porous, no sealing, consistent pattern across multiple slabs.
