Bathrooms are where stone does its most dramatic work, because there is usually enough continuous surface for veining to actually run. They are also wet, which changes the material conversation. The two decisions that matter most are the finish and the sealing regime.

Polished stone in a wet area is beautiful and slippery. Honed, leathered or tumbled finishes give more grip and hide water marks better. For floors in particular, talk to us about the finish before you fall in love with a polished slab.
Marble and travertine in a bathroom must be sealed properly and resealed on schedule. Most bathroom cleaning products are acidic and will etch natural stone — pH-neutral stone cleaner only. Silica free engineered surfaces sidestep this entirely, which is why they are common in rental and high-traffic bathrooms.
